A South Devon company is spilling the beans on the secret of making a really good cup of coffee…….and enjoying its sweet taste of success.
Simply Coffee which was launched just two years ago has already reached the number two slot in the UK ‘bean to cup – coffee to go’ market by quenching the thirst of hundreds of thousands of people with its unique range of hot beverages in convenience stores and garage forecourts.
The company has just opened a state of the art showroom in Exeter and is set to expand by taking on more sales staff and launching in the next few weeks a new website designed by specialist Paignton company, Createanet.
The man behind the success is Jason McNally of Paignton who spent two years researching the market and identified that coffee accounts for one third of all beverages consumed by people on the go.
The research revealed the market is currently valued at £75 million and is the fastest growing sector within the world of beverages, rising at a growth rate of over 22 per cent per annum.
Jason decided to tackle what has proved to be a niche market-convenience stores and garage forecourts and it has proved a gamble which has enjoyed triple success for him, retailers and customers.
Instead of customers paying up to £2.60 per cup of coffee, Simply Coffee provides outlets with an in-store unit that comprises a state of the art Swiss Franke coffee system serving fresh ground ‘bean to cup’ espresso white coffee, Americano, cappuccino, lattte, chocolate and tea options at up to 200 cups per hour…at a cost of just £1 a cup.
The units only require 1 sq metre of floor space so do not eat into valuable retail space but reward the operators with a massive profit and keep customers delighted with a superb taste of coffee, tea or chocolate.
The units are already big business in many of the UK’s leading garage forecourts and convenience stores, including Spar, the Young’s Group, One Step, Londis, Total, Fina and Texaco and the business is about to grow even more with the launch of the new website designed by Createanet.
Managing director Kevin King explained: “The ‘to go’ market is about to expand dramatically as consumer lifestyles, particularly younger consumer segments, demand greater convenience and seek a good quality cup of coffee whilst on the move without having to go to or pay High Street brand prices.
“The new web site will encourage more retailers to install the Simply Coffee machines by highlighting the valuable profit margins and enabling operators to download training videos showing them exactly how easy the machines work.
“The site also contains information about the company as well as the product itself assuring customers that even though only priced at £1 a cup, Simply Coffee is a Fairly Traded organisation. The coffee is grown on farms that meet demanding social and environmental standards as verified by experienced inspectors.”
Jason added: “Simply Coffee acts as a one stop shop, from the provision of all equipment, product and ancillary replenishment to the complete supply of all point of sale and marketing material and we believe that with Createanet’s impressive website we will be giving some of the High Street coffee shops a good roasting.”
