The Passion of The Christ

The Passion of The Christ

One of the most moving and controversial films ever made which will have far reaching effects on Christianity throughout the world is to be released next year – and part of its success depends on a South Devon marketing and design company.

For ‘The Passion of Christ’ produced and directed by superstar Mel Gibson which tells the dramatic story of the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus Christ is being promoted through a special website designed by Paignton company, Createanet.

The superstar appeared on Good Morning America today (Dec 4th) to outline to its people the reasons behind the making of the film which will leave audiences totally numb with an encounter they have never experienced before.

It was also the official world premier of the film’s trailer and Createanet had to ensure the website was ‘live’ when Mel Gibson gave the word on the show.

“The pressure has been enormous not only from meeting deadlines but from a technical point of view. We have had to put in place special infrastructure to ensure everything went to plan because when you are working for someone as famous as Mel Gibson, you can’t afford for things to go wrong,” explained Createanet’s managing director Kevin King. “We have had to produce the high level of work that Hollywood demands and expects.”

It’s the biggest challenge and contract ever undertaken by Kevin and his team at Createanet and it has taken months of dedicated work and commitment to complete.

Kevin and his creative director Carl Billinghurst have both been privileged to view the trailer and they admit it evoked a more deep reflection, sorrow and emotional reaction than they had ever experienced in their lives.

There have been mixed reactions from those who have seen the trailer around the world. Some have called for Mel Gibson to be made a saint, others have called for him to be crucified in the same way as Christ. One thing that is for sure – anyone who sees the film will never be the same. In America, several clergy of different denominations have resigned.

“Fortunately, we are not involved in the politics of the film,” explained Kevin. “Our role has been to design the website and our private thoughts about the film are just that. We have just fulfilled our contract to produce a website for Mel Gibson for his latest film, albeit, a controversial and dramatic one.”

The Passion of Christ is not being promoted as a ‘Christian’ film in the sense that it will only appeal to those who identify themselves as followers of Jesus Christ. It is a deeply human, beautiful story that will touch all men and women and has been described as a work of art.
