South Devon marketing and website design company Createanet has been ‘bowled over’ with enquiries following its involvement in the latest blockbuster film, Blackball.

The comedy was directed by comedian Mel Smith and produced through Icon Movies with the website being designed and maintained by Createanet.

The Paignton based company sponsored the world premiere of the film in South Devon and hosted the reception for the 500 guests.

According to managing director Kevin King, the company has been bowled over by the amount of interest generated by the film. The comedy is based on the self styled bad boy of bowls Griff Sanders who infuriated the South Devon bowls establishment by eating chips on the green and putting swear words on scorecards – earning himself a 10 year ban.

Kevin explained: “Hosting the premiere of the film and the reception presented us with an enormous amount of exposure and we are delighted that many companies who were obviously impressed with our professional service have contacted us”.

“The film has certainly generated a lot of interest in bowling and Torquay and the spin off for us is that companies are looking to Createanet to design their websites.”

Tickets costing £15 each were initially sold for one screening for 300 people but sold out in a weekend so the Apollo Cinema organised a further two screenings. The money raised was donated to a children’s charity.

In June, the glitz of Hollywood was given some extra polish by Createanet when the company designed the website for John Travolta’s new film, Basic and previously to that it designed the website for another Hollywood classic, The Rules of Attraction.
