A South Devon company is helping to change the world … and all for the better. For website Company Createanet of Paignton has just completed a new website for the world-wide organisation “We Are What We Do” and in time to help it celebrate its first anniversary.

‘We Are What We Do’ is a global movement which aims to inspire people to use their everyday actions to change the world. The movement, which was initiated by the east London charity, Community Links, was launched with the publication of the best selling book “Change the World for a Fiver”… 50 actions to change the world and make you feel better.

The book sold 100,000 copies in just 100 days and it continues to sell strongly around the world with several foreign editions in development.

The movement recently celebrated its first anniversary and to mark its on-going success has unveiled a new website which was created and designed by Kevin King and his team at Createnet, based at the Torbay Industrial Park in Paignton.

It has taken five months to complete the website which encompasses many challenges … including foreign languages. Creative designer Carl Billinghurst explained: “We had to be aware of the fact that the website would be viewed by the world because the organisation has a following in so many countries. We have made provision, for example, for everyone who fulfils an action to change the world, to log on their idea on the site so that other people can learn ideas.”

“It has also proved particularly rewarding because we, as a team, have learnt so much. There are hundreds of people all around the world taking part in working We Do What We Do projects — on the books, films, exhibitions and adding to our website, not to mention all the people carrying out actions and helping to spread the word. No one is doing it for money but for the biggest prize of all …the happy knowledge that they are doing their bit.”

Change the World for a Fiver lists 50 simple, everyday actions that can improve our environment, our health and our communities, making our planet and the people on it, much happier.
