The launch of the latest iPhone on Friday (July 11) is being keenly awaited by South Devon website company, Createanet.

The company, based in Paignton has joined the revolution in developing cutting edge technology for use on the smaller screens of iPhones or Blackberrys – already it has developed a scaled down version of a ticket booking system for its client Lionsgate Movies for the film Meet the Browns.

And the company says its forward thinking is proving popular with customers.

Kevin King, managing director, explained: “We developed the iPhone application for the film Meet the Browns for Lionsgate Movies with whom we have a long standing relationship. We feel the Iphone which has managed to gain a 27% market share of the mobile phone market makes mobile internet a realty for the first time and it has to be considered in a company’s internet strategy.

“We’re constantly developing new technologies as mobile broadband becomes more popular. Our customers are recognising that people are looking at their websites on smaller screens and we’re able to provide solutions that work.

“We have to programme in a different way for mobile technology – for instance the screen resolution is much smaller than a computer screen, so we can’t use the same graphics as on a normal webpage. People want to get all the information they can in as few clicks as possible.”

The application for the film Meet the Browns is an advanced ticketing system. Users carry out a search to find out where the film is showing, based either on their zip code or on the state, then the district they are in. A Google marker can then be loaded to find out exactly where the theatre or cinema is on a map and a ticket booking can be made by clicking on the phone number which is displayed.
