The teams on BBC’s The Apprentices thought it would be so easy this week. Tasked to create an app and sell it, both teams’ efforts got mixed reviews by Lord Sugar, but the business show went on to say Mobile Apps were one on the most business break throughs in recent times. The shows experts commented that the phone screen was some of the most valuable real estate around
One South Devon company had the foresight to invest in skills and technology to produce top rating phone apps, and the gamble has already paid off – unlike the would-be entrepreneurs on The Apprentice. Createanet attained Apple approved status to produce apps more than a year ago and is already building a formidable reputation from its headquarters on Torquay’s harbourside. And now they’ve have notched up yet another success with their latest phone app.
The Food Finder SW iPhone App champions the region’s local food and drink producers, offering an easy to use guide to products, producers and retailers plus how to find them.
Createanet is fast building a reputation as the number one phone app developer in the south west and this latest one is already receiving rave reviews for its ease of use. The company was commissioned by law firm Stephens Scown who handle legal affairs for many of the region’s premier food producers, in conjunction with Taste of the West.
The free app allows users to search for specific products, find producers and locations and share their experiences. Food Finder SW is already receiving rave reviews in its own right.
We all know that some of the best food and drink is produced in the West country,’ said Kevin King, boss of Createanet, ‘so it makes sense to capitalise on that with an easy-to-use app that helps customers find suppliers.’
It’s a cause close to Mr King’s heart. As an chef and restaurateur in an earlier life, he knows the importance of good quality food and drink produced locally.
Another recent Createanet phone app for Farm and Cottage Holidays was chosen as App of the Week by the Sunday Times.
We see our app division expanding rapidly as we are now being swamped with inquiries,’ said Mr King. ‘An app is fast becoming becoming a pre-requisite to any business’s success.’
