Createanet celebrates its tenth birthday
After a classic start in a spare bedroom, marketing and website company Createanet has gone from strength to strength and is now celebrating its tenth birthday.
The company, founded by owner, Kevin King, is now a team of 10 and has won worldwide acclaim for its work.
And ten years on, many of Createanet’s original customers remain clients, including Kevin’s first client, Paignton’s Harwin Apartments run by Steve Gorman.
Steve explained: “Kevin constructed our first web-site in 1999 to promote and advertise on the ‘new internet’ our two star Harwin Hotel in Goodrington. After five years as an aparthotel we finally fully converted to 12 individual 3-4 star holiday apartments. This called for a new website and we had every confidence in Kevin and his team to come up with yet another splendid site this time for Harwin Apartments.
“Createanet has provided us with the perfect tool to display what we have to offer the prospective holiday maker, on the World Wide Web.”
And he added: “If you find a company that works for you and provides your needs, why change!”
Kevin Added, I’m extremely proud to still have Steve as a client it was always my intentions to do our best to support clients through what can be a very confusing industry.
Createanet began building websites for the local hotel industry which proved a positive move for the company however its first big break came in the shape of a phone call from Icon Movies which started a business relationship which has seen Createanet build the company’s global website for Europe, America and Icon owner Mel Gibson’s home country of Australia.
“One of our Highest profile sites was for Passion of the Christ which had 54 million visitors a day and was said to have contributed to the success of the film. We also had to orchestrate the hosting of the site which was a mammoth undertaking due to the number of visitors it was attracting. It proved though that as a business we could be based down in Devon but trade all over the world.”
During the past ten years the company has worked on a diverse range of websites for companies such as HBO films, Lionsgate Movies, Sony and IMRWorld, a worldwide comprehensive e-commerce index, as well as a host of more local companies such as Beverly Park, Christine’s School of Motoring, Marldon Marquees and is about to launch a new website for one of Torquay’s most established company’s Allsop & Pitts
Kevin, who started his working life as a chef in some of the Bays leading hotels, has always been captivated with the Internet and the avenues it opens up for businesses.
He said: “Createanet started when the internet was still in its infancy. I was fascinated with the fact that something could be put on line in Paignton and it could be seen around the world.
“It’s amazing to see how the internet has evolved and developed, I can remember taking most of the night to download a picture, now we can watch HD TV online.”
One of the major growth areas on the Internet is ecommerce sites – Createanet has invested heavily in this area and this combined with Createanet’s unique search engine optimisation skills has helped many of its clients achieve multi-million pound turnovers.
As well as working on a number of projects both local and national createanet is currently working with the BBC’s new dragon Shaf Rasul from the hit series Dragons Den. including a High Profile Business Networking Site www.vuru.co.uk.
Createanet has recently moved in to new premises which is 3 doors away from hotel Regina which was the first hotel Kevin worked as second and head chef for the much respected David Buckpitt and his wife Heather, who went on to become one of Torquays Mayors, Kevin still attributes David for teaching him the importance watching your costs in a business. “ he ran a very tight ship and i learnt so much from him.
